The Chronic Daily Headache And Potential Causes

By Hayden Ross

There can be a large range of causes for the chronic daily headache. You are likely to find that any symptom that is prolonged or comes upon you on a regular basis is very difficult to deal with. You don't have to deal with the consequences of having this regular and unreasonable pain.

It is possible to have a regular chronic daily headache from the time you wake up in the morning until you go to sleep at night. In other cases, you might find that there is a certain time of day when the pain starts to approach you. Sometimes it only becomes clear what the trigger actually is when the trigger (and the pain) mysteriously disappears. Identifying the source can be difficult but well worth it in the long run. Doing so can end your misery.

Depending on the way your body reacts there are certain medications that can increase your susceptibility to headaches. If you have recently started a new medication, or have had a recent dosing change, this could very well be a trigger for you. Medicines that cause headaches are often a bit mysterious, as it may not be listed as a possible side effect. Usually all it takes is a decrease in your dosage to correct the problem.

New daily stress, like sudden financial stress can have an impact on headaches. If you can identify a new stressor in your life you have a pretty good chance at figuring out exactly how to fix the problem.

When a person starts to develop problems with their vision regular headaches are often one of the first signs. Sometimes, the headaches can actually be more obvious than the slow decrease in your vision. If you have yet to see your ophthalmologist this year, he or she might be the first stop on your list. This is especially true if you already have corrective lenses or if you have a long history of failing vision in your family.

Your work posture can also cause this type of problem. If you are only getting these headaches at work you may be squeezing your shoulders up or extending your neck in a manner that is difficult for your head to adjust to. A visit with a chiropractor can help rid you of the problem.

In other situations it might not be so obvious. You may not be able to develop a clear cut causative factor through reasoning or experimentation. Unfortunately, this type of pain can just as easily be brought on by a new aroma in the workplace as it can by the development of a tumor. If you are experiencing other neurological problems be sure to see your physician for an accurate diagnosis.

If you have a chronic daily headache for an extended period of time, or the pain is bad enough that it interferes with your ability to function normally, it is time to see your physician. There are so many potential causes that you may very well need a work up in order to deal effectively with the problem. The sooner you deal with it the better, as you can experience fatigue, depression, and other physical symptoms as a result of a chronic daily headache. Treatment options are readily available. Waiting is only prolonging the discomfort.
